At Tuart Hill Dental, we believe that prevention is better than cure. This is why our experienced dental team will initially carry out comprehensive examinations and regular reviews to ensure that not only immediate treatment goals are achieved but also planning is made for long-term oral health. During the initial examination, patients' teeth are meticulously cleaned and polished and oral hygiene instructions given.
A dental filling is a fast and easy way to repair missing tooth structure whether it is as a result of a fracture or due to decay. They are the most popular treatment option in repairing cavities, as it is quick and inexpensive to do. Typically there are two filling material options; Composite (white) fillings and amalgam (silver) fillings. The choice of filling material is determined by its location in the mouth and the patient’s ability to maintain its care.
Root canal treatment
This is a procedure that involves removing inflamed or infected tissue of the nerve (also known as a pulp) from the inside of a tooth to allow a tooth that was causing pain to be saved.
A dental implant can be thought of as an artificial tooth root that is submerged into the jawbone. Dental implants provide a strong foundation for fixed (permanent) or removable replacement teeth that are made to match your natural teeth.
This is a term used to describe pain and dysfunction of the muscles that move the jaw (muscles of mastication) and the Temporomandibular joint itself (TMJ). The most common symptoms are pain, followed by restricted mandibular movement and noises from the TMJ during jaw movement. TMJ dysfunction is the second most frequent cause of orofacial pain after dental pain (toothache).
Crown & bridge
Natural looking, long lasting crowns (or caps) can not only improve your smile but restore the tooth’s strength and function. A bridge is a new tooth kept in place by the teeth either side. It is made to fit perfectly in your mouth and can restore the natural appearance of your smile.
Dentures are a set of artificial teeth for a patient who has lost their own teeth. They can restore mouths where no teeth are present or mouths that are missing as little as one tooth. Not only will dentures improve your smile by enhancing your lips they will also restore function allowing for improved chewing ability.
Our staff have a fun and gentle approach towards our younger patients and take their time in explaining what they are doing and why. We find this approach results in not just continued positive visits when returning to the dentist but a more positive approach towards oral care at home.
